So Much Me, Even I'm Tired of Me

I've been enjoying a weird media blitz today. (As a newspaper guy, it's still kind of strange to be on the other end of this.) So if you're coming to this site from CBR.com, or Publishers Weekly, or maybe even Marvel.com... hello, and welcome.
As for everybody else: Now that Cable has been revealed as alive and well (and with child) at the end of X-Men #205, I'm free to gab a bit more about the Cable series I'm writing, which kicks off next March. And gab I have. First up today was a story by Dave Richards at Comic Book Resources. Then came a Q&A at Marvel.com. Finally, Laura Hudson interviewed me for her comics column at Publishers Weekly. (And there might be another Q&A or two in the pipeline.) Check them out if you're curious to know more...

Update (12/5): Steve Ekstrom's Newsarama.com Q&A with me is now live. Boy, are those guys up early!

  3. i really cant wait for your cable series..hes always been one of my all time favorite characters...Any way after i heard you got the CAble gig a while back...i ran out and picked up the blonde..damn that was a messed up book but in a very very cool way and i absolutly loved it......a quick question......i know it would be way way confusing to have him come back in the first year or so of CAble stories...but perhaps could we see stryfe? and do you have and feelings on his character

  5. Marc: Welcome to the blog, and so glad you dug The Blonde. As for a possible Stryfe appearace... all I can say is anything is possible. And I think some of the surprise appearances will make a lot of Cable-heads happy.

  6. Great interviews, Duane. I'm looking forward to your first issue of Cable. I'm a long time Cable fan and it's great that Cable is getting an ongoing again.

  7. So, did you read any Cable & Deadpool while preparing for this? Especially The Burnt Offering (TPB2/#7-12)

  8. Ashley: Thanks. Hope you enjoy it.

Reboot: I have read a lot of Cable & Deadpool. Oddly enough, while I've had to play catch up a bit with Cable, I read a lot of Deadpool when I picked up comics again in 2000. I love the Merc With a Mouth.

    Duane:

Congrats on the Cable gig! I'm a big fan of the character and couldn't be more pleased about the direction it sounds like your taking him (i.e., back to his tough guy roots).

Currently reading Messiah Complex and enjoying that. Hopefully Cable will hand the new X-Force their collective asses (if not in the crossover, then perhaps at some point in your new series?).

I'm also planning to check out some of your books to get a feel for your writing. Just wanted to drop by and say congrats!

  11. Thanks so much, Bodyslide. Hope you enjoy the books, and eventually, what I have in mind for Cable. (A return to his tough-guy roots is indeed what I have in mind...)

That sounds great. Really looking forward to Cable starting up. I assume it must be starting in March, as I haven't seen it listed for February.

Will Cable be interacting with the other X-men at all in this series or completely doing his own thing? I like Cable on his own, but sometimes it's cool to see him play off of the other X-men too.

    Hi Duane,

    Looking foward to the series.
Also a long time fan of Cable.
He is my favorite X-Men Character.

I think this character has a very strong fan base. Maybe we´re an older fan base and not as vocal. But its definetly there!

    Good luck.
