Funnybooks 4 Free

Fanboy geeks of the world unite! It's Brian Hickey's favorite holiday: Free Comic Book Day. This means you can stop into your friendly neighborhood comic shop and pick up a bunch of free comics from publishers both great and small.

Even better, Free Comic Book Day happens to coincide with Cinco de Mayo, which means you can peruse your stack of free comics while under the influence of tequila.

  1. Free Comic Book Day rocks.
I do my comics shopping on Wednesdays , but I went back for this. It was fun talking to kids and helping them pick comics. I also had a really cool discussion with some Viet Nam vets about why they read comics during their time in Nam.

Came home with some fun stuff to read to, just in time for a monster block party starting at the intersection righ next to our house where a huge Cinco De Mayo ceelbration went all day and night. Picture a few thousand drunks screaming and whooping with a heavy polka like bass in the background.

I love living in the city...

  2. Sounds like you had a most excellent Free Comic Book day, Jon. There's nothing better than turning on kids to comics.

And a Cinco de Mayo party with a polka beat? Man, I wish I lived in Milwaukee...
