Through some disturbance in the time-space continuum, there are four Marvel comics out today with the name "Swierczynski" on them. I'd love to say that it's some kind of savvy pre-New York Comic Con marketing blitz... but I'd be lying. It's just one of those scheduling things. So what've we got? Well, there's...
Immortal Iron Fist #22. This is the opening of the new arc, "Escape from the Eighth City," in which Danny and the other Immortal Weapons find themselves in a never-ending Kung Fu battle in something quite like Hell. Travel Foreman's crew of martial arts monsters will scare the shit out of you.
Cable #11. The first installment of a two-parter, with the amazing Jamie McKelvie as guest artist. Ariel Olivetti provides a kick-ass set of bookends. (Very much looking forward to meeting both Jamie and Ariel this weekend at NYCC.)
X-Men: The Times and Life of Lucas Bishop #1: The first chapter ("Born to Die") in a three-issue mini-series about our favorite mutant anti-hero cop. (Sample art above by Larry Stroman, who blew me away with every page.)
Dead of Night: Werewolf By Night #2: The next installment of Jack Russell's bloody, bloody locked room mystery. You haven't seen gore until you've seen it drawn by Mico Suayan.
All told, that's $13.96 (plus tax) out of your wallet, so I know it's not exactly spare change. So big thanks to everyone who picks up my stuff on a regular basis. My wife and kids thank you, too.

saaaaa...weet.
Nice! I'm very much looking forward to "Messiah War," Duane. Will that crossover resolve the conflict between Cable and Bishop or will it continue on after that? I mean, at some point Nathan needs to bring Hope back to the present to fulfill her destiny, right? He hasn't done so before because his time travel mechanism is broken and will only allow him to travel forward in time, but I'm assuming X-Force will have a way to bring them back, so it would make sense that the Cable/Bishop conflict gets resolved before that happens.
Also, will Cable rejoin X-Force at some point, since he did start the original team?
Cable Guy: Excellent questions. And I can't give you a single answer without ruining the fun ahead... :)
Okay, initial thoughts:
1)IIF #22: great new storyline; very curious as to see where it goes. Awesome twist at the end.
2) Cable #11: I really appreciate how true it stays to the overall canon, but if so readable as is.
3) Lucas Bishop #1: gosh, he seems a little angry...actually, this was my least favorite of the three. still liked it, just have to see where it goes.
4) Werewolf By Night #2: okay, so I really thought I'd just buy the first and drop it as horror isn't my thing. Man, when people label it, "horror," they do you a huge freakin' disservice. it's got so many different elements and twists, it's rapidly turning out to be my favorite of your writings...question, though: it says limited series. How long is it going to be?
Finally, I've decided the one other comic that you've gotta start a campaign to get a shot at writing: DEADPOOL!!! You'd absolutely tear it up!
Keep up the great work!
Aw, man! Not even a hint or two about what's in store for Cable? I mean, he's getting pretty darn old, so I'm expecting some sort of major resolution soon. Maybe he dies? Maybe he gets replaced by Stryfe or a younger version of himself from somewhere else in the timestream (or perhaps even and alternate future)?
Apologies for all of the questions, but at least you know you've got me curious to see how things pan out after Messiah War! I definitely hope to see Cable kicking ass alongside the X-men (or X-Force) at some point in the near future, though.
I can't tell which came off scarier. Philly or the eighth city. It was two really great reads this week. Nice Job, Duane. I really hope the Werewolf series is longer than six issues. The way its started it deserves a monthly spot.
Picked up all four tonight. Thanks for the reminder. I'm waiting for Werewolf by Night #1 to come in before reading #2. I missed #1 at the shop last month - it was in and gone before I could get my hands on it. Had to overpay from some guy on ebay for #1.
:D
yep, you freaked me out yesterday when I walked into my local nerdatorium and ended up walking out with a big old stack of Swierczynski. I dream of the day when I can out-marvel you, sir.
