Yeah, She's Packing

Here's the new cover art for my fourth novel, Severance Package. The art is by Tomm Coker, who most recently penciled an issue of Moon Knight and will soon release his first feature film, The Catacombs.

I'm not going to lie; I fucking love it. But what do you guys think?

(And yes, I know I'm quickly becoming the "chicks with guns" author. I can think of worse things...)

This is me, over here, squeeing.

I definitely get a Modesty Blaise vibe with this -- terrific art!

Being a comic book nerd, I really dig it. Are you trying to draw some of the fan boys to your books?

And have you noticed how many hard-boiled writers are also comic fans?

Off topic... I just finished reading Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge. Thanks a ton for the suggestion. At the risk of sounding cheesy, this book kicks much ass. Horror with a tough guy sensibility. I loved it.

Oh, BTW, speaking of Moon Knight, your Annual is out this coming Wednesday instead of 12/5 like the shipping lists said.

    Nice cover by Coker.

  8. Um... not enough blood. Or nudity. And as Duane said to me in an email the other day "Not enough nude Al Guthrie!"

  11. Mike: A little fanboy appeal can't hurt, can it? And yeah, DARK HARVEST is fantastic. One of my favorite reads of the year.

    E. Herbert: It's set for May 27, 2008. Just around the corner! (Sort of.)

Dave White: Someday you'll go through puberty, and it will be a very special time for you.

  12. Yeah, I really like it. Best of all, this cover will really jump off the shelves, next to all those boring covers. People will notice it in the bookstores.

  14. Duane,

Damn nice cover, man. Tomm Coker is a beast. I think I'm getting a contact high from all of the good shit you've got cooking right now.

By the way, I've been meaning to email you about Cable but haven't had the time. So, congrats on nabbing Cable. And Angel on art is another great grab. You are having a good damn time of it, it seems.

That'll catch the eye in the book store. Very nice. Captures the vibe... at least of what I've read so far.

Dear God, My nipples are harder and my chest hair is thicker.

And Dave White did go through puberty. Twice. The first time it scared him so bad that he regressed and the second time it just didn't stick.
