Nearly 90 years ago. This is Frankford Avenue at Margaret Street; I grew up right around the corner on Darrah Street.I drove past this corner today. Pretty sure I saw a drug deal. Definitely saw hookers.

Drugdealers and hookers sure dressed differently back then.
ReplyDeleteWas this part of the Sunshine Tour?
ReplyDeleteNah. I was afraid Sunshine would have jumped out of the car and tried to take over the local drug/prostitution racket. (Al's so bossy, you know.)
ReplyDelete90 years ago, that picture was taken? Oh yeah, I think if you look very carefully you see a once young Duane Swierczynski selling papers on the corner.
ReplyDeleteYou laugh, Dave... but see that building with the sign NEWS GLEANER on it? My very first job, I worked for them, bundling newspapers. Not in 1917, of course...
ReplyDeleteThat'd be silly. We all know you weren't born until 1919!
ReplyDeleteDuane, that's actually really awesome. Was your boss a gruff chain smoking guy in a fedora?
