English Is Apparently My Second Language

Nancy French linked to this test on her blog. I took it, and was shocked to see that I'm a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. Christ, I thought I'd be Yankee all the way.

Now if y'all excuse me, I need to go down to the cellar for a spell.

Your Linguistic Profile:

50% General American English

30% Yankee

20% Dixie

0% Midwestern

0% Upper Midwestern

Huh, 65% General American, 30% Dixie, 5% Yankee. Guess it's all those frat brothers from Longisland.

20% Dixie -- YEE-HAW!!

I knew we agreed on more than ten percent!

Graham: That 5% is disturbing, isn't it?

Nancy: I can't explain this. I've hardly ever wandered south of the Mason-Dixon line. Really. I mean, I've been to Houston four times... but that can't count, can it?

Houston? Ugh... nope. You need to expand your mind by going somewhere remote. Somewhere with limited access to indoor toilets and reading material.

That 20% Dixie might be able to pull you through.

I ended up with 5% Dixie and I can't figure out how. Must be something I picked up in DC. Its definitely not anything I learned in Boston or NYC.
